Activating Voxel Grids

Understanding how to activating voxel grids is crucial for effective voxel modeling.

An object is called active if it is the only selected object or, if more than one object is selected, the first selected object. This object is significant because it is the one displayed in the Inspector, allowing you to view and modify its properties.

The active voxel grid refers specifically to the voxel grid of an active Voxel Layer. It is important to note that only one voxel grid can be active at a time. This means that when you select a different Voxel Layer, the previously active voxel grid will be deactivated, and the new one will become active.

When a voxel grid is active, you will see the voxel outlines displayed in the workspace. This visual cue indicates that you can edit the voxels within that grid.

Note

Voxel grids associated with Voxel References cannot be activated. This is because the voxel data from Voxel References is not editable directly. Instead, any changes must be made to the source asset from which the Voxel Reference derives its data.

Steps to Activate Voxel Grids

You can activate a voxel grid in several ways:

  • Click on a Voxel Layer in the Hierarchy.
  • Select a Voxel Layer from the Quick Access menu.
  • Activate a Transformation Tool (Move Tool, Rotate Tool, Scale Tool) and click on a Voxel Layer in the Scene View.
  • Hold down the Ctrl key and click on a Voxel Layer in the Scene View with any Voxel Tool.
