Downsample
The Downsample operation generates Level of Detail (LOD) voxel data for the currently displayed LOD based on the next higher LOD version of a voxel grid. Each voxel grid supports four levels of detail (LOD0 to LOD3), with LOD0 being the highest resolution and LOD3 the lowest. LOD voxel data is automatically generated by default, but if you opt to manually edit LOD data, this operation helps initialize the current LOD with a downsampled version from the next higher LOD.
Only one LOD can be displayed at a time, which is controlled via the View Options Bar.
Important Note
This operation is applicable only when Manual LOD is turned on for the selected Voxel Layer. You can enable this option in the Inspector.
Steps to Downsample
- Activate a voxel grid.
- Ensure that the Voxel Layer of the voxel grid has Manual LOD turned on.
- Set the LOD that you want to generate; it must be LOD1, LOD2, or LOD3.
- Navigate to Voxel > Operations > Downsample.
Once the operation is executed, the current LOD will be updated with the newly generated voxel data.
