Voxel Tool Box Mode โ€‹

Voxel Tool Box Mode

Box Mode edits a three-dimensional region instead of a flat area.

How It Works โ€‹

You define two opposite corners of a box, and Foxel applies the active tool to the full enclosed volume.

This mode is especially useful for:

  • blocking out forms
  • creating large solid shapes
  • erasing or selecting a 3D region in one step

After you click the first voxel, Foxel shows a box preview to help you judge the affected area before the box is applied.

How to Use It โ€‹

  1. Click a voxel to set the first corner of the box.
  2. Move the cursor and click a second voxel to define the opposite corner.
  3. Adjust the preview box if needed.
  4. Apply the box.

Adjusting the Box โ€‹

As long as the preview box is visible, it can still be resized, moved, applied, or canceled.

Resize the Box โ€‹

  • Click and drag one of the sides of the preview box to resize it in that direction.

Move the Box โ€‹

  • Hold Ctrl and use the gizmo to move the box.
  • You can also use the arrow keys to move the box by 1 unit.
  • Hold Shift while using the arrow keys to move the box by 10 units.

Apply or Cancel the Box โ€‹

  • Click on a side of the preview box to apply it.
  • Press Esc to cancel it.

Shape Option โ€‹

By default, Box Mode processes the full box volume.

You can also choose a different 3D shape in the Toolbar. Available shapes include:

  • box
  • sphere
  • pyramid
  • cone
  • cylinder
  • wedge

The active tool is then applied only to the voxels that belong to the selected shape.

Notes โ€‹

  • You can change the orientation of the active shape inside the box using the Rotate 90ยฐ and Flip buttons in the Action Bar.
  • If you use the Wedge or Pyramid shape, hold Shift while resizing the box to snap the size to perfect angles.

When to Use It โ€‹

Choose Box Mode when your edit should have depth, not just width and height.
