Environmental Settings Overview โ€‹

Environmental settings control the overall lighting and backdrop of a render.

They define how the scene is lit, how the background appears, and whether a ground plane is visible. Together, these settings establish the overall visual context of the render.

Environmental settings are configured per camera.

Available Environmental Settings โ€‹

  • Sun
Controls the direction, color, and intensity of the Sun.

  • Lighting
Controls the scene's global lighting mode.

  • Ground
Controls the appearance of the ground plane.

  • Background
Controls the background behind the scene.

Lighting Modes โ€‹

The Lighting settings support the following modes:

  • Diffuse Only
Uses Lambert diffuse lighting without specular highlights.

  • Image-Based Lighting
Uses an environment map for lighting and reflections.

  • Atmospheric Scattering
Simulates sky lighting based on atmosphere and sun direction.

  • Uniform Lighting
Applies even lighting across the scene.

How Environmental Settings Are Used โ€‹

Environmental settings work together with light objects and render effects to shape the final appearance of a render.

Use them to define the overall lighting conditions and visual backdrop before adjusting scene lights or post-processing effects in more detail.
