Asset Types โ
Foxel supports several asset types. Each asset type is designed for a different kind of workflow.
Choosing the right asset type depends on what you want to create or import.
Overview โ
Voxel Scene โ
A Voxel Scene is the main asset type in Foxel.
Use it for most scene-based work, including voxel modeling, object organization, lighting, cameras, and keyframe animation.
See Voxel Scene.
Voxel Movie โ
A Voxel Movie stores animation as a sequence of individual voxel frames.
Use it when you want to create frame-by-frame voxel animation instead of animating objects with keyframes.
See Voxel Movie.
Heightmap โ
A Heightmap stores height-based voxel data in a 2D form.
Use it for workflows where a height field is more practical than direct voxel editing, such as terrain-like surfaces or height-based sculpting.
See Heightmap.
Mesh Asset โ
A Mesh Asset stores imported polygon mesh data.
Use it when you want to bring external mesh data into Foxel, for example as a source for voxelization or as reference geometry.
See Mesh Asset.
Choosing an Asset Type โ
In most cases, you should create a Voxel Scene unless your workflow specifically requires another asset type.
Choose:
- Voxel Scene for general voxel modeling and scene work
- Voxel Movie for frame-by-frame voxel animation
- Heightmap for height-based voxel workflows
- Mesh Asset for imported polygon mesh data
