Radial Duplicate

The Radial Duplicate feature allows users to create multiple copies of an object arranged in a circular pattern. This functionality is ideal for creating objects that need to be evenly distributed around a central point, such as wheels, flowers, or decorative elements.

How to Use Radial Duplicate

To duplicate an object radially, follow these steps:

  1. Select the object(s) you wish to duplicate.

  2. Navigate to Object > Duplicate > Radial Duplicate in the menu.

  3. A dialog will appear with the following input fields: Radial Duplicate Dialog 🔺 Figure 1: Radial Duplicate Dialog Box

    • Number of Copies: Input the total number of duplicates you want to create.
    • Rotation Axis: Choose the axis (X, Y, or Z) around which the duplicates will be arranged.
    • Center: Specify the center point in world space around which the duplicates will be positioned.
    • Radius: Enter the distance from the center point to the location of each duplicate.
    • Angle Between Copies: Define the angle in degrees that separates each duplicate.
    • Start Angle: Specify the angle in degrees at which the first duplicate will be placed.
    • Rotate: Specify the rotation angle to apply to each duplicate relative to the previous one.
    • Scale: Define the scale factors for the X, Y, and Z axes to adjust the size of each duplicate.
  4. Click Preview to visualize your settings before applying them, or click OK to generate the duplicates. Each copy will be positioned according to the specified radial parameters.

Note

The pivot point of the object is crucial for how the Scale and Rotate values are applied. Ensure that the pivot is set correctly to achieve the desired arrangement. See Understanding Pivot Points.
