Linear Distribute

The Linear Distribute feature allows users to evenly space selected objects in a straight line. This functionality is useful for organizing objects in a uniform manner, such as aligning items along a path or creating structured layouts.

How to Use Linear Distribute

To distribute objects linearly, follow these steps:

1. Select the objects you wish to distribute.

2. Navigate to Object > Distribute > Linear Distribute in the menu.

3. A dialog will appear with the following input fields: 🔺 Figure 1: Linear Distribute Dialog Box

   • Spacing: Enter the value that determines the distance between each object in the distribution.
   • Direction: Choose the axis (X, Y, or Z) along which the objects will be arranged.
   • Rotate: Specify the rotation angle to apply to each object relative to its original orientation.
   • Scale: Define the scale factors for the X, Y, and Z axes to adjust the size of each object.

4. Click OK to execute the distribution. Each selected object will be spaced evenly according to your specified parameters.

Note

The pivot point of each object plays a crucial role in how the Scale and Rotate values are applied. Ensure that the pivot is set correctly to achieve the desired arrangement. See Understanding Pivot Points.
