Creating and Managing Prefabs

In this section, you will learn how to create and manage Prefab Packages in Foxel, allowing you to organize and utilize your Prefabs effectively.

Creating a New Prefab Package

To create a new Prefab Package, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Prefabs Panel and activate the Prefab Packages Tab to access the package management options.
  2. Click on the New Package button to create an empty package.

New packages are stored in the Shared folder. For more information on managing shared files, see the Shared Files section.

You can also use the Prefab Packages Tab to rename or delete existing packages as needed.

Managing the Content of a Prefab Package

To manage the contents of your Prefab Package, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Prefabs Tab.
  2. Use the dropdown menu at the top to select the package you want to manage.
  3. Click on the Add Prefabs button. A file selection dialog will appear, allowing you to choose files to add to your package.

Supported File Types

You can add various types of assets to your Prefab Package, including:

  • Voxel Scene, Mesh Asset: Generates one Prefab for each Scan Box found in the scene, as well as one for the asset's Default Scan Box.
  • Voxel Movie: Creates one Prefab for each Voxel Keyframe.
  • Heightmap: Produces one Prefab generated from the merged 2D data using its height information.
  • Prefab Package: Adding a Prefab Package will include all Prefabs found in that package.

Deleting and Renaming Prefabs

You can manage the individual Prefabs within your package using the Prefabs Panel. To delete or rename Prefabs:

  • Delete Prefabs: Select the Prefabs you wish to remove and click the Delete Prefabs button.
  • Rename Prefabs: Select the Prefabs you want to rename, right-click to open the context menu, and choose Rename. Enter the new name in the provided field.
