Rotating Voxel Grids
The Rotate operation in Foxel enables you to rearrange the voxels within a selected voxel grid, giving the illusion of a rotated object. It's important to note that this process does not rotate the entire object itself; instead, it modifies the arrangement of the individual voxels within the grid.

Steps to Rotate Voxel Grids via Dialog
- Select voxels or Voxel Layers.
- Navigate to Voxel > Transform > Rotate.
- Adjust the rotation parameters in the rotate dialog.
- Click OK to apply the rotation.

- Rotate: Specify the angle in degrees for each axis (X, Y, Z) to determine the rotation.
- Hide Selection: Enable this option to toggle the highlighting of selected voxels, which can enhance your ability to visualize the changes more effectively.
Rotating Voxels with the Rotate Tool
Alternatively, you can utilize the Rotate Tool to directly rotate selected voxels using your mouse. This method offers a more intuitive approach to achieve the same results as the Rotate operation, allowing for hands-on adjustments.
Steps to Rotate Voxels with the Rotate Tool
- Activate a voxel grid.
- Select the voxels you wish to rotate.
- Activate the Rotate Tool, which will display the Rotate Tool gizmo at the center of your selection.
- Click and drag one of the colored circles to rotate the selected voxels along that specific axis
or click and drag at the center of the gizmo to freely rotate the selected voxels. - Release the mouse button to apply the new rotation.
Tip
If you hold down the Shift key while rotating along an axis, the rotation will snap to 45° increments.
