Scaling Voxel Grids

The Scale operation in Foxel allows you to adjust the arrangement of voxels within a selected voxel grid, giving the impression of a scaled object. It’s important to note that this operation does not scale the object itself; it only alters how the voxels are organized within the grid.

Scale Dialog Parameters

Scale Dialog

  • Scale: Input the scale factor for each axis (X, Y, Z) to define how much to scale the voxels.
  • Uniform: Check this option to ensure that the aspect ratio is preserved during scaling.
  • Hide Selection: Enable this option to toggle the highlighting of selected voxels, which can enhance your ability to visualize the changes more effectively.

Scaling Voxels with the Scale Tool

Alternatively, you can use the Scale Tool to directly scale selected voxels using your mouse. This method offers a more intuitive way to achieve the same results as the Scale operation, allowing for hands-on adjustments.

Steps to Scale Voxels with the Scale Tool

  1. Activate a voxel grid.
  2. Select the voxels you wish to scale.
  3. Activate the Scale Tool, which will display the Scale Tool gizmo at the center of your selection.
  4. Click and drag one of the colored boxes (red, green, or blue) to scale the object along the corresponding axis,
or click and drag the central yellow box to scale the object uniformly.
  5. Release the mouse button to finalize the new scale.
