Opening Assets
To work on an asset from the active project, you must first open it. Only one asset can be open at a time, and the currently open asset is referred to as the active asset.
Open Via the Main Menu
You can open assets using the Open command or the Open Recent command.
Steps to Open an Asset Using the Open Command
- Select File > Open.
- Choose the asset you want to open and click Open.

If you attempt to open an asset from a different project, Foxel will prompt you to import the file first.
Steps to Open a Recently Used Asset
- Select File > Open Recent and choose an asset from the submenu.

The Open Recent submenu displays only recently used assets from the active project. When you switch to another project, the submenu will show the recently used assets for that project.
Open Via the Quick Access Panel
You can also open assets quickly using the Quick Access Panel.
Steps to Open an Asset Using the Quick Access Panel
- Click on the Open Asset button in the Quick Access Panel.
- Select the desired asset from the dropdown list.

Steps to Open a Voxel Scene Using the Assets Panel
- Open the Assets Panel.
- Navigate to the Voxel Scene subpage.
- Double-click the desired asset.
To open Voxel Movies, Mesh Assets, or Heightmaps, follow the same procedure on the corresponding subpage.
Open Via Windows Explorer
When you open an asset via Windows Explorer, Foxel will launch and attempt to locate the project to which the asset belongs. If it cannot find a valid project, it will open the last project used.
Steps to Open Assets from Windows Explorer
- Locate the asset file you want to open.
- Double-click the file.
